Are there cheaters in airsoft matches?

Since airsoft pellets do not leave any distinguishing marks the only way to play the game is through the Honor System. The Honor system is seldom used in the world but it is crucial in these games. Since BB hits leave no distinguishing mark, the only way to play is with HONOR. Contrary to the initial response to this concept, players DO call themselves out. Most of the time, players are eliminated with bursts of full auto fire. A stream of pellets hitting and bouncing off a player is hard to miss for the player at the receiving end. However, at times, single hits may not be felt and are understandable — to an extent. The benefit of the doubt is always given to the target. If he/she can't feel the hit(s), they can't call it. However, here's a tip for any player: If you even think that you got hit, call yourself out. In airsoft games, CHEATERS ARE NOT TOLERATED. If a player has consistently displayed this type of behavior, then the player is barred from playing forever. Robbing a fellow player of a legitimate elimination is not worth it.

How is the game of airsoft played?

Fundamentally, airsoft is played within a fairly large predetermined area where the objective is to hit the opponent with plastic airsoft bb pellets. Generally when a player is hit, they will have to raise their guns overhead and shout “Hit” or “Out”. Depending on the rules laid out at the beginning of the match, they either stay in the place where they were hit (Dead in place), or go to a predetermined area called a “regeneration point”. The rules agreed upon at the start will determine how long the players will regenerate and respawn before being allowed to return to the match. Since the airsoft pellets do not leave any telltale marks on clothing, determining hits is usually based on the honor system.

How do you play Capture the Flag?

The game is basically played by 2 teams with 3 or more players and can be played anytime and anywhere. The basic objective in playing the game is to capture the opponent’s flags within their territories. Streets, fence lines, creeks or hills make good boundary markers. Rules are usually agreed upon by both teams before the start, depending on the number of players, length of time per game, area of the playing field. Winning the game is simple, either the teams capture the enemy flag and bring it to their base or they eliminate all their foes before the game time expires.

How fast do the BBs go?

Stock guns shoot from a low speed of 100 fps (feet per second) and up to 300 fps. Upgraded guns can reach velocities of up to 550 fps. Being hit by the pellets from a stock gun can be likened to a light sting and the hit will leave a small round welt. The hits are not so painful, but they are still noticeable even through regular clothing. But at pointblank range, it will break skin that is why eye protection is a must because even the guns with the lowest velocity can put out an eye.

Do I need elbow or kneepads to play airsoft?

Yes, since safety is paramount in playing action pursuit games. Next to your airsoft gun, the facemask, elbow and knee pads are very important equipment that you need to wear before you play. Facemasks are required to protect your face, specially your eyes from bb pellet hits. The pellets travel at a velocity of up to 450fps so hits on any part of your body will truly be painful.

Elbow and knee pads will definitely be a real help when you start rolling around when the game starts. The pads will soften the impact and prevent injuring your knees and elbows unnecessarily.

Can you me some tips on buying airsoft guns?

Now this is a very interesting question. Typically what are being compared are 2 types/classes of guns. For example: 2 AEGs, an MP5 vs. an M16. Unlike firearms, guns of the same class basically perform the same way although some differences do exist. Guns with longer internal barrels will slightly have longer ranges and accuracy than those with shorter barrels.

In terms of durability and reliability, airsoft guns manufactured in Japan are typically better than those made in Korea or Taiwan because manufacturers with proven track records make better products and also perform better.

Which weapon should I bring to a CQB (close quarters battle) game?

CQB is a type of fighting in which teams engage each other with personal weapons at close range. Personal weapons in this case are submachine guns like the MP5 and pistols or even shotguns. Usually the submachine guns are AEGs (Electric airsoft guns), the Pistols are either spring or gas guns.

If you would notice the weapons used in this scenario are short because enemies, hostages and teammates are closely intermingled. This is due to the fact that CQBs are usually played in buildings and houses where there is a defending and an attacking team.

What are the different scenarios played out in airsoft matches?

Here are some scenarios that can be played during matches where the playing area is somewhat limited in size.

Team Death Match - Both teams are spaced equally distant from a house or structure. The objective of this match is to rush to gain control of the house or structure.

Last Man Standing- This Free for All match is usually played with a short time limit and low ammunition loads. The last man standing wins.

Left For Dead- In this scenario, 3-5 players in an entrenched defensive position are left in the middle of a field. The other players then attack with the main objective of eliminating the defenders and capturing the position.

What are the Basic Airsoft game rules?

Airsoft is meant to be a fun game and basic rules are implemented even before the matches begin. These rules are enforced to protect the safety of all players and ensure that they all have a good time playing.

Personal Protection - Goggles and full face protection (balaclava or paintball mask) are a must whenever playing or just observing matches.

Minimum shooting distance- No shooting in distances of less than five (5) feet!

Surrender- In outdoor or non-CQB situations, an order for surrender can only be given within 5 feet and from behind. All players ordered to surrender must comply.

Eliminations- Any hit on your body is a cause for elimination. A person must be honest enough to acknowledge the hit by raising his weapon and shouting the words “hit” or “out”.

With these basic rules in mind, go out and enjoy the game!

What are airsoft guns?

Airsoft guns are replica firearms that shoot 6mm hard plastic BBs. Airsoft guns are like air guns. They use pressurized gas to propel the BBs. The 3 main types of available are:

Spring airsoft guns are single shot weapons that requires the shooter to manually compress a spring in order to charge the gun. This type is common among pistols, shotguns and bolt action rifles.

Gas guns consist of semi automatic or full automatic models that have an air source canister inside the gun. The pressurized gas that is used to power this gun can be bought from airsoft gun dealers. This type of action can be found in pistols, submachine guns and rifles.

Electricguns consist of semi or full automatic models. Here, battery power is needed to compresses a spring that charges the airgun. This type of action is common among submachine guns and assault rifles and it is the most common type of gun available in the market.
