Is there really an airsoft grenade?

I've been playing airsoft for only a few months. One of my friends told me that the team that we will be up against uses airsoft grenades. This is the first time I've heard of an airsoft grenade. Is there really an airsoft grenade? I was told that explosives are not used in airsoft games. So, what is the airsoft grenade made of? How is it made? I'm just a bit curious because it sounds really cool. I’d like to create one during my future games.

As you may already know, airsoft is a modern combat sport or recreational activity that simulates military missions. During such games, replicas of guns, tactical gear and other equipment used by military or police organizations are used. Instead of firing real bullets, small, non-metal balls are loaded into the magazine. These BB pellets are expelled with the use of pressurized gas, springs or gearboxes powered by batteries.

You are right when you said that explosives are not allowed during airsoft games but airosft grenades do exist. Since airsoft games are simulations of military situations, players are allowed to use replicas of grenades, grenade launchers, mines and claymores that do not contain any explosives. Green gas and citric acid are usually used to power these weapons.

The reason why you probably haven't heard of these devices is that they are not usually used. Airsoft grenades are very faulty and are not reliable. Perhaps you would be more familiar with airsoft grenade launchers like the M203. These babies can spew a large number of pellets or foam slug rounds with the use of green gas. Attached under the barrel of a rifle, you would be able to cream your opponents with the number of pellets these launchers can put out. Some players use the Caw launcher which can let out 1,224 rounds of 6mm pellets in a span of 3 seconds. With such a powerful weapon in your hands, it's impossible for you to miss. Some grenade launchers are standalone like the Mad Bull AGX which can unload 200 pellets in a flash. This can be a really good support weapon for gunners. It will definitely finish off your opponents.

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. In some airsoft sites, the use of pyrotechnics is allowed. These are small replicas of grenades that spew out pellets, resembling the shrapnel of a fragmentation grenade. Smoke grenades can also be used during the game. Unseen, they would be able to run over their opponents without ease. Flashbangs are also used in these sights. These devices produce bright lights and loud sounds that can distract the opponents, disorienting them.

With the evolution of different materials, we now have tougher grenades made of rocket star burst shell cases. These grenades can be thrown further than the first airsoft grenades that were invented. Smoke grenades that produce less toxic smoke have also entered the market. With such improvements, having the experience of using these devices can give you a more action-packed and exhilarating game.
